Life List #12: Run the Stairs of the Chicago Sears Tower

Update: Not possible. Boooo... I put this on my list after becoming interested after raising money for the Damon Runyan Cancer Research Foundation in 2004 by running up the 1062 steps (63 flights) of Boston's Hancock Tower. The Chicago Sears Tower beats that at 2109 steps (108 flights). However I just saw this from the DRCRF:

Go Vertical Chicago Announcement
After seven terrific years, we are greatly disappointed to announce that as a result of a decision made by Sears Tower building management, Go Vertical Chicago will not take place in 2009.
With many thanks,
The Go Vertical Chicago Team

So I'm making my FIRST swap to my life list, and change #12 to now by: Run the Stairs of the Empire State Building. Being a New Yorker now, there does happen to be a very cool race to the top of the Empire State Building. This race has 1,576 steps and 102 stories. Its a bit harder to get into since it is a shotgun start and has a smaller field of runners (rather than releasing runners every 10 seconds as the Hancock Tower did where the field is unlimited). Luckily, it HAS to be a little easier to gain entry to this race than the now defunct Boston Go Vertical (Hancock Tower) and Chicago Go Vertical (Sears Tower). See ya at the top... maybe in 2010???
