New Town and a New Smile

My Boston apartment is officially empty. I no longer have the keys. And I decided since I had so much stuff to bring to NYC with me, I would leave something big behind.

Here's me on the bus without those stupid braces. ;)

Brace Face Expiring Soon

Went to get my grill tightened today. . . and told them about my limited time left in Boston. So, I'm on the fast track now. November 19 is the day (technically I get them off on October 28 but November 19 is the permanent retainer of it all and then I'm only due back for check-ups which will obviously be less frequent because of the traveling).

HOORAH!

Braces Countdown Calculation...

So, at my orthodontist, I can't really ask him how much longer I'll be in my braces without irritating him. Its obviously impossible to completely tell and I'm sure the question is asked so often that its got to drive him understandably bonkers. But when he stepped out of the room, I was able to ask his assistant.

She predicted 4 or 5 more visits. And every visit is 6 weeks apart.
So I calculate that I'll get my gangsta grill off... between December 31 and February 11.

Boo... I was hoping for earlier (like before Christmas) but I know it will be worth it in the end. Maybe she's just padding it so I won't be disappointed. The chompers do look pretty great though (oh, and my headaches and grinding is pretty much gone so I guess that's really the whole point, eh?)... they did a little evening out of the edges too.

In any case, almost next door from his office is my favorite place for an after-braces-tightening lunch: Steve's Greek Restaurant. Mmmm... Avgolomono soup and rice pudding!

What a difference 5 months make!!!

Yes, you may not recognize me any longer, friends... both because I was brunette 5 months ago (and going back to my natural blonde color was so difficult that I may never do it again too) and even more so because MY TEETH ARE STRAIGHT!

When I went in to Dr. Korn's office this morning, my one single janky tooth (the one that originally was about 90 degrees from what it was supposed to be about 5 months ago) was still hanging out behind all the others. With a little tightening of my braces and — KAPOW! — she has finally joined the party.

Check out my pic from early-February compared with now. TA-DA! It's like magic! Too bad I still have a little more straightening and then letting them settle before I can get these crazy things off.

(Pardon my creepy close-ups)

Holy Who Punched Me in The Face?

Usually, after going for my monthly braces tightening -- I start feeling pain a few hours after. Today, I felt the pain immediately. That does not bode well for the rest of my day!
